DEPTFORD
Until 29 October
Bearspace presents the first UK solo exhibition of Matthew McGuinness, Who Does Not Work, Does Not Love, featuring works constructed during his day job as a cook. Created from ephemera taken from the kitchens of some of London’s top restaurants, his works incorporate detailed sketches and song lyrics on T-towels, as well as sculptures and collages from food packaging. All created between service, his work is based on his frenetic lifestyle as an artist/chef. “I have been thinking about how the artist uses and occupies his or her studio,” he says, “and came to the conclusion, that mine lately is the kitchen”.
